The OSAP program run by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), and funded by the provincial and federal governments. If you are a full time or part time student the assets you own (which includes your vehicle) may limit the amount you are able to receive from the government. That's why it's worth the cost of having your vehicle professionally appraised so the true value of the vehicle is what the government will use to determine how much you are eligible to receive from OSAP.

Do I have to include the value of my car?

Vehicle information must be included. OSAP uses blue book value to determine the value of your car. If your vehicle is valued at $5,000 or less, it will not affect your OSAP funding. Certain situations allow for an appeal of this amount.
